Cognitive
Psychology focuses on the study of how people think, understand, and know. In cognitive
learning theory there are three important theories. There are Piaget’s cognitive developmental theory, Vygotsky’s sociocultural
cognitive theory and information processing theories.
The learner as an active participant in the process of knowledge
acquisition and integration. According to cognitive theory learners should participate the lessons actively and to make the
learning meaningful teachers can use more indirect instructional strategies. As
well teacher should relate the new information with prior knowledge it will be easy for the students to store the information in the memory.
According to the information Processing Model human brain is like a
computer. “Information processing
theorists proposed that like a computer, a human mind is a system that
processes information through the application of logical rules and strategies.
The mind has a limited capacity for the amount and nature of the information it
